In the essay 'पुस्तकस्य आत्मवृत्तान्त:', different forms of books are described. In ancient time, Tadpatra (leaf of palm tree), Bhojapatra and leaves of other trees were used to write books. After the invention of paper and printing technology, the present form of the book came into existence.
Mainly there are four type of books. They are text book, guide, dictionary and reference books. Similarly four types of books are used by four types of people for various purpose.
Children use them as text book, for examiners it is in the form of guide, translaters use dictionary and for research scholars they are reference books. But the love between text books and children is wonderful and praiseworthy.
