Question
Suggest some methods to assist infertile couples to have children.

Answer

Inability to conceive pregnancies even after 2 years of unprotected sexual intercourse is called infertility. Various methods are now available to help such couples as mentioned here:
(i) In Vitro Fertilization: In vitro fertilization (IVF)
means fertilization outside the body in almost similar condition as that in the body i.e. fertilization is done in test tube thereby it is recalled as test tube baby technique.
In this technique ova from wife or donor female and sperms from husband or donor male are collected in laboratory and are now induced to make fertilization successful to form zygote in favourable conditions. Now, this zygote/early embryo so developed is transferred into female's womb by one of the two methods described below:
(i) Intrafallopian Tube Transfer: It is also known as zygote intrafallopian transfer (ZIFT). It involves transfer of zygote or 8 celled blastomere in fallopian tube of female to complete further development.
(ii) Intrauterine Transfer: If the embryo is having more than 8 blastomere, it is transferred into uterus to complete further development hence it is called intrauterine transfer.
(2) In Vivo Fertilization: Those females which have problems to conceive, this is the best method as fertilization occurs inside the female's body.
(3) Gamete Intrafallopian Transfer (GIFT):
Those females who cannot produce ovum but can provide suitable environment for fertilization and further embryonic development, are suggested to adapt GIFT technique.
It involves transfer of an ovum from donor female into the fallopian tube of another female, who cannot produce them fertilization occurs naturally.
(4) Intracytoplasm Sperm Injection: This technique includes direct injection of sperm into ovum.
(5) Artificial Insemination: Those males who becomes failed to inseminate the females or sperms count is very low in their semen, they are corrected by artificial insemination technique.
In this technique semen collected from husband/healthy donor is artificially injected into vagina or uterus of the female. This is called intrauterine insemination (IUI).
In this way, we have many techniques but all these techniques require highly specialised professional experts to handle them preciously. These techniques are also costly therefore these facilities are available only some selected cities and thereby only limited number of individuals get these benefit. Besides religious, social and emotional aspects of peoples also act as barrier to adopt these methods. Although the ultimate aim of all these procedure to have child only.
In India there are several orphaned and destitute children who will not survive if no proper care be done. Such childless parents can take the responsibility of caring such child following legal procedure of adoption and can fulfil their dream to have child. This is the best way to have child and do social service.

A vector is a way to take a sequence of DNA, usually, and introduce it into another place. So what vectors do is allow you to propagate the DNA you're interested in, in the organism you've chosen to propagate it in. So the simplest one is the origins of recombinant DNA technology: They made copies of RNAs, and they were able to insert these into what is known as plasmids.
