A flat land area having height between $180$ metres to $900$ metres above the sea level and a wide, flat surface on top is called a ‘Plateau’. On the basis of their geographical location and structure, plateau can be divided into three types:
$(1)$ Intermontane plateau,
$(2 )$ Piedmont plateau
$(3 )$ Continental plateau.
