Question
What is Ammonia leaching.

Answer

When a crashed ore containing nickel, copper and cobalt is treated with aqueous ammonia . under suitable pressure, ammonia selectively leaches these metals by forming their soluble complexes viz. $\left[ Ni \left( NH _3\right)_6\right]^{2+},\left[ Cu \left( NH _3\right)_4\right]^{2+}$, and $\left[ Co \left( NH _3\right)_5 H _2 O \right]^{3+}$ respectively from the ore leaving behind the gangue, iron(III) oxides/hydroxides and aluminosilicate.
