Among the important works written by him, "Abhijnanashankutalam" is one of the best plays in Indian and world literature.
The play was first translated into English by Sir William Jones.
Kalidasa also composed excellent poems and plays such as "Malvikagnimitram", "Meghdutam", "Kumar Sambhavam", "Raghuvansham", "Vikarmovarshiya", and "Ritusanhar".
