Question
Why conc. H2SO4 is used to absorb moisture from ethane while it is not used for ethylene?

Answer

Ethane do not react with conc. H₂SO₄ while ethylene react with it to form a product. Hence, conc. H2SO4 is used to absorb moisture from ethane not for ethylene.
$CH _2= CH _2+\underset{\text { Conc. }}{ H _2 SO _4} \longrightarrow \underset{\text { ethylhydrogen sulphate }}{ CH _3- CH _2- OSO _3 H }$
