The jurisdiction - powers and functions of the High Court are divided into three sections:
$(1)$ Original jurisdiction,
$(2)$ Disputed jurisdiction and
$(3)$ Administrative jurisdiction.
The other powers and functions of the High Court :
$(1)$ The High Court holds hearing for civil, criminal and revenue related cases and administers justice.
$(2)$ According to the Article - 226 of the Indian Constitution, the High Court has the power to issue orders related to the protection of human rights.
$(3)$ The High Court hears the appeals filed against the judgement passed by the subordinate courts and gives verdicts.
$(4)$ It can ask for case papers or reports from all the Subordinate Courts of the state.
$(5)$ The High Court can make/modify general rules for all the subordinate courts. Appeal can be filed in the Supreme Court against the order of the High Court.
$(6)$ It gives guidance on how the subordinate courts should keep their accounts and notes.
$(7)$ It may advise the Governor in legal matters.
