Raja Ram Mohan Roy established the Brahmo Samaj in $1828 \ AD$.Raja Ram Mohan Roy had established the 'Atmiya Sabha in $1815 \ AD$ to campaign against social evils prevalent in India. This same institution became famous as the Brahmo Samaj in $1828 \ AD$. The main activities of the Samaj were as follows:
$(1)$ He started a massive campaign against the Sati system in Bengal by publishing a magazine called the 'Samvad Kaumudi in $1821 \ AD$.
$(2)$ Because of the efforts of the Brahmo Samaj, William Bentinck passed a law against the Sat pratha (system) and prohibited it.
$(3)$ In the same way, due to the efforts of the Brahmo Samaj, laws were passed against the evil practices of 'Human Sacrifice (Narball) and the practice of Female Infanticide' (Dudhpitt).
$(4)$ They printed books. pamphlets in favour of widow remarriage to bring awareness among people.
$(5)$ Raja Ram Mohan Roy requested Governor General William Bentinck to start English education in India. His efforts marked the beginning of English education in India.
$(6)$ He made special efforts and requests for educating women.
$(7)$ Efforts were made to abolish child marriage. $(8)$ Advocated inter-caste marriages.
