[Early life – life at home – life on the front /border – incident/s on the border/s – retirement – life with family]
Answer
The Sun and The Wind
Many many years ago the sun and the wind had a dispute. Each thought himself to be stronger than the other. “Who can doubt my strength?” said the wind., “I can raise storm in seas and wreck ships. I blow on land and fell trees and houses. Who can stand against me ?” “I shine over the whole world”, said the sun. “My heart is the very life of the world. My strength is acknowledged everywhere.”

Meanwhile, they saw a traveller going along the road. He had a cloak on. They decided to try their strength on him. Whoever could make him take off his cloak, would be the stronger. The wind tried first and blew hard. As the wind blew harder, the traveller held he cloak tighter and tighter. The wind could not make him take off his cloak.

Now it was the turn of the sun. It began to shine with blazing light. Soon the heat became unbearable. The traveller felt the warmth of the sun and took off the cloak. Thus the sun was successful in proving his strength.

As the train caught speed, I smiled at the old man but I saw he had distant look in his eyes. I asked him to which place he was travelling to. I learnt he was going back to his village from the city. The hustle and bustle, heavy traffic, pollution and nuclear family lifestyle had made him feel a prison of his own making. Within a year he felt he was encroaching on his son's private life. So he left his son's house and boarded the train to come back to his village home where he had his neighbour friends, his cow and his parrot. There was a feeling of sadness on his face as he felt he may not get to see his grandson again as he was growing old. We came to a little town where he had to alight. His face was now totally animated. The air of that place had brought joy to his face and I realised the old man had come home.

Sitting alone on a beach I felt myself like a speck by the sand against the vastness of the sea. Suddenly I saw a boat coming towards the shore. The boat seemed to be going wayward. I was a little scared it would come headlong and hurt us. I wondered how a boat that size was coming onto the sand. It was sure to get sand stuck. The boat reached close to us and then it was totally stuck and slowly it bent on one side. The crew were saved by the lifeguards. I was keen to know what had happened to the boat. The crew members spoke of their ordeal as they had come into the trap of a cyclone. They had to keep in front of the storm to remain safe. They had been moving without food and water. Luckily with the storm having lost its fury they found themselves close to the beach and they took the risk of becoming sand struck. All of us immediately helped them with food and doctor facility. The local people offered them means to connect with their families and assured them a safe journey home. As they described the stormy winds my hair stood up and I could picture their state and I secretly thanked their guardian angels for having stood by them and their families.

Answer

Debate Between Sun and Wind

Once upon a time, in the vast sky, the Sun and Wind were having a debate about who was more powerful and great.

Wind, feeling very proud of his strength, boasted, "I am far stronger than you, Sun. I can blow away anything in my path with my force. No one can stand against my power. I am the true king of the skies."

The Sun, calm and humble, smiled and said, "Power is not always about force. Strength lies in knowing when to act and how to use one’s energy."

The Wind, unable to accept the Sun's humility, challenged him. "Let us see. There is a man walking through the forest, wrapped in a shawl. Whoever can make him take off his shawl will be the true victor."

The Wind blew with all its might, howling through the trees. It tried to blow the man’s shawl off, but the harder the Wind blew, the tighter the man gripped the shawl. No matter how strong the gusts, the shawl stayed in place.

Now, it was the Sun’s turn. The Sun began to shine brightly, casting its warm rays upon the man. As the warmth touched him, he felt comfortable and relaxed. Slowly, he removed his shawl and continued on his way.

The Wind was silenced, realizing that the Sun’s gentle warmth had done what his forceful blows could not.
