Question
Explain the difference between fact-oriented and value-oriented statements.
✓
Answer
Human beings are constantly evaluating social animals.
The person evaluates all the things, ideas, plans and ideals presented to him by different words.
To understand the nature of value it is necessary to know the basic difference between statements relating to value and statements relating to fact.
Fact-oriented statements: Examples of fact-oriented statements are as follows:
$1.$ The state of Gujarat was established in $1960.$
$2.$ Water, petrol etc. are liquids.
$3.$ Vegetation needs sunlight.
$4.$ Kankaria Lake is located in Ahmedabad.
$5.$ The moon revolves around the earth.
The above fact oriented statements are statements from different fields of knowledge like physics, history, geography, botany etc.
The subject matter of fact-oriented statements is descriptive.
The natural sciences describe the facts in a neutral way rather than studying the facts. So it is not a question of one's choice or dislike.
There is a consensus in factual statements as the veracity of these statements can be verified by observation and, where possible, by experiments.
Fact-oriented statements are also called 'factual statements' or 'fact-based statements'.
Value oriented statements: Examples of value oriented statements are as follows:
$1.$ Women are more reserved for gold ornaments.
$2.$ Young people enjoy traveling.
$3.$ According to Gandhiji, cleanliness is the abode of dominance.
$4.$ Untouchability is a social stigma.
$5.$ I really like that you are right.
The above value-oriented statements represent individual or group choice.
There can be more than one opinion or more than one option regarding value oriented statements.
Because value-based statements do not rely on actual facts.
Statements regarding value depend on a person's outlook on life, personal desires, needs, interests, interests and preferences.
Statements concerning value have full scope for opinions, alternatives or differences of opinion.
The main reason for this is that man has his own interest and choice of the fruit form of the way of life.
