It is necessary for man to have immense affection for the divine element which he seeks to attain through religious life, for the attainment of anything cannot be possible without true and deep affection for that object.
Another name for affection is devotion.
Thus, devotion to the divine element has a special place in religious life.
Activities like worship, prayer, bhajan bhakti, spirit of surrender etc. are an indispensable part of religious life.
