Question
Medha $($मेधा$)$

Answer

Medha means intellect. In fact, Medha is a type of intellect. Medha means the intellect which bears the knowledge of a particular subject.
In the process of study, a teacher teaches something to his student. Teaching means the knowledge possessed by the teacher should reach the pupil. By the sincere efforts of the teacher, the knowledge reaches the mind of the pupil but it does not remain there forever. The pupil forgets whatever he is taught. But if the pupil possesses Medha $($intellect$),$ the knowledge remains in his mind forever.
Thus, prayer is offered to god for such kind of knowledge bearing intellect. The pure intellect is free from any sort of vice. Therefore it is said that, 'धीर्धारणावती मेघा'.
